Transparency is key to our craft. We want you to know exactly how a rough log becomes a cherished part of your home. Here is the lifecycle of a Greygifts creation:
Sourcing with Purpose: It starts with the hunt. We scour for sustainable solid wood, reclaimed timber, and unique driftwood branches that have character. We look for the knots, the twists, and the “flaws” that make the wood unique.
Preparation & Curing: Before any cutting happens, the wood is patiently kiln-dried or treated to ensure stability. This crucial step prevents warping and ensures the wood is clean and safe for your home (or your aquarium).
The Art of Shaping: This is where our hands take over. We sand, carve, and shape the wood, following its natural lines rather than forcing it into a mold. We smooth the surface while keeping the live edges that tell the wood’s history.
Finishing: We apply high-quality, protective finishes to enhance the grain’s depth and ensure durability, giving the wood a warm, inviting glow.
From Studio to Screen: Once a piece is finished, we bring it to our studio. We photograph it under natural light to capture its true colors and textures, so what you see on our website is exactly what arrives at your door.
